I adore these photos since I feel like they really capture the love this new family of three has for one another. Parents normally ask “Are you just going to take photos of the baby? Or are we going to be in them too?” I always encourage (especially when doing newborn or baby portraits) that the parents get in on the photos too. One of my biggest regrets is not taking the time to get portraits done with me in it when Madeline was a baby. And while you definitely want images of your new baby on his or her own, later down the road your child will appreciate being able to look back and have photos that capture what those moments were like as a family.
This is just a little preview of what is to come… enjoy!
I know I always say this, but I am SO grateful to have the sweetest, most amazing clients. When I first start communicating with Sarah back and forth before our shoot, it felt like we had been friends for years! Sarah and AJ are two of the nicest people I have met, and just made the whole experience feel effortless. I am so excited about the awesome shots we got (even if the weather was working against us).
Here are two images from the shoot! Can’t wait to show you the rest!
You may remember Alex & Jon’s maternity photos from a couple of months back… well here is the little bundle of love that was in that cute belly. Eli was a little champion during the shoot and I just enjoyed every minute photographing him. Check out some of my favourite images. Nothing more incredible than the connection between a parent and their precious child…
Photos like this remind me of the quote by Robert Brault “ Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were really the BIG things…”
Thank you to all of my amazing friends and clients for being so patient with me while I am a little slower than normal getting back to you. As some of you may already know I am going through some huge exciting changes with my business and I cannot wait to share the details with you very soon. To give you a heads up starting in September my business will be Sarah Solomon Photography with a new look, a new website, and a new natural light STUDIO!!
I am so grateful everyday to be able to have a career that involves sharing my passion for children’s photography with so many incredible families. My goal as a children’s portrait photographer is to provide my clients with soulful images that provoke emotion and happiness. It is the most amazing feeling when I get to see my clients (who really become friends) reaction to seeing their photos for the first time and knowing that they not only value the process it took to get the shots, but also that these photographs will become one of their first family heirlooms to be cherished for many years to come…
Thank you to everyone who is supporting me through my journey, this past year has been so amazing and I cannot wait to show you everything I have been working on!
Congratulations to Lacey and Kristy on your beautiful wedding. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such an amazing day. We live in such an incredible time where we are truly free to live and love as we wish, and I am so honoured to have been there to document the love you have for each other… Talk to you both soon! xo – Sarah
Sweet Sweet Natalia. Natalia’s mom Cathy and I have been friends since way back at my first job at Galaxy Cinemas in high school. Who would of thought all these years later we would have two beautiful girls almost the same age… I can see so many similarities between the girls. I cannot wait for us to get together for a play date. For our photo shoot we headed out to Mocking Bird Hill Farm and got some great shots! Thanks for the fun afternoon Maria, Cathy and Natalia!
See you guys soon!
Here are some of my favourite shots..
Natalia… Please stand in the middle of this tall grass so we can take a pretty picture – not!…. awww poor little thing… she was not impressed!!
Oh one more… any similarities?
It seems like my poor blog has been low on my priority list but the good news is that I have been super busy doing lots of fun photo shoots – and I would rather be outside chasing little toddlers around any day instead of being stuck behind my computer. So enough said, I have so much to share with everyone! Today I will play catch up and post a few photos from a couple sessions that I did back in June!
To start it off here are some more images from my shoot with the Lyons family (minus Doug – hopefully he’ll be there next time). This is Katie’s second shoot in the series. I absolutely love being able to get together with the family every couple months so we can really document all of the little changes that happen in a child’s first year of life.
For this session we started off in the backyard of the Lyons home with both girls and mom. After that we headed back in and got some cute shots of the girls together and I got a sweet tour of both Nora and Katie’s new bedrooms! From there little Katie needed a snack break so Nora and I headed outside to get a few more shots of her in the backyard. As we were going out the door I noticed she threw on her crocs and I was about to ask her to change into her pretty little sandals that matched her dress perfectly but I thought, hey you know what, if that’s what Nora wants to wear – that’s what I want to shoot! After thinking about it later, I realized it is easy to dress a child up and make them look “perfect”, but what is even better is capturing the child as they are, old crocs, scraped knees and rolling around in the dirt in her beautiful white dress… As a mom I know that some of my own favourite photos of my daughter are those where she is just being her silly little self… and I look at those photos and immediately feel like I am back in that moment…
This idea really summarizes my goal for my photography… I want to capture the essence of your child… what makes him/her unique… not just a say “cheese” snapshot… but a photo that you look at and immediately are overcome by emotion and love and know that you will for many many years…
Here are some of my favourites!!
Just so we all know that it’s not all rainbows and butterflies
And last but not least – our little mini-shoot in the backyard… scraped knees, crocs and most importantly – lots of laughs
I am so happy to finally be posting some my favourite images from a session in June with my dear friends Sonja & Adam and their adorable son Hudson. We had a great afternoon in the park and got some great shots! This boy sure loves his parents.. I love being able to capture the connection between a child and his mom and dad. We all have hundreds of photos of our little ones on their own but it is the photos with you in it too that you and your child will treasure most down the road…
Thank you for the lovely afternoon and for being so easy going… Hudson is such a natural and made the photo shoot seem so effortless.
I can’t wait for our kiddos to get together for a play date!
